Brewery of the Week
Fat Bottom Brewing Co.
Much like several other cities in the Southeastern United States, Nashville Tennessee’s craft beer scene is blowing up right before our eyes. After visiting all of the Nashville area breweries, we were particularly excited about Fat Bottom Brewing located on Main St. in the up and coming East Nashville neighborhood.
Fat Bottom first opened their doors in 2012 in an abandoned mattress factory and have done an absolutely incredible job fixing the place up. Upon opening the front door, you immediately find yourself inside the exposed brick, 15-barrel brewhouse, just a few feet from where all the magic happens. This makes for quite an aromatic walk to the taproom, especially if you are lucky enough to visit on a brew day.
The Craft Crawler Staff Favorite ‘Ruby Red’ American Ale and many of the other Fat Bottom Brews seem to be named after voluptuous ladies, however we have not gotten the full story on this yet. Fat Bottom Beer can be found on tap all over the Middle Tennessee area, and has recently become available in cans.
Aside from their delicious array of signature brews available on tap, Fat Bottom’s taproom and outdoor beer garden make for a great spot to chill and enjoy an afternoon. Fat Bottom is open to the public five nights a week, and often hosts live music, corn hole tournaments, team trivia, and other events that have help make the brewery a favorite local hangout in East Nashville.
Fat Bottom has a seasonal menu of ‘small bite’ appetizers, salads, burgers, and other meals that are cooked with beer pairings in mind. We weren’t originally aware that they served food, but were pleasantly surprised after trying a few things off the menu. The food was very good and quite reasonably priced as well.
All and all, Fat Bottom Brewing is a really sweet place. The beer, food, and atmosphere fit together seamlessly and make for a very chill, comfortable place to hang out. It’s a must-visit if you are in the Music City.
